Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 pound top sirloin steak, cut and diced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 cups homemade hummus
- Freshly chopped parsley as garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the steak dry and season both sides with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the oil. When the oil is simmering, carefully place the steak in the center of the pan. Cook without moving for 3-4 minutes per side, until desired level of doneness is reached (135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, and 160°F for well-done). Remove steak from the pan and let rest for 10 minutes before dicing into cubes.
- In the same pan, add the sliced onion and minced garlic and toss with the oils left behind from the steak. When the onions start to brown and caramellize, add the steak back in the pan and combine everything.
- To assemble the plate, spread a generous layer of the hummus on the bottom of the plate and add the cubed steak on top. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired and serve with a side of pita bread or rice.
