Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli with Butter Sauce
For those weeknights when you need a quick and easy meal with little hassle, this simple spinach and ricotta ravioli hits the spot. This recipe comes together quickly with a few ingredients: spinach ravioli, fresh basil and spinach, and grated Parmesan. It’s delicious, hearty, and comforting all in one bowl.

Why we love this recipe
We can never say no to pasta, especially if it’s as easy to whip up as this ravioli. It’s perfect for those weeknights when you come home from work exhausted and don’t feel like spending a lot of time over the stove making dinner. In less than 30 minutes, you’ll have a steaming bowl of buttery ravioli with notes of basil and spinach that will fill you up in no time.
We tried to make this recipe easier by using store-bought ravioli, which you can find in the refrigerated section at any grocery store. The spinach & ricotta is our personal favorite, but you can easily substitute it with another vegetarian version (like mushroom) or even a meat-friendly ravioli like beef or chicken! Go wherever your heart desires.
Key ingredients

- Spinach & ricotta ravioli: Spinach & ricotta are just the perfect marriage of flavors that works every time. All you need to do is boil them in hot water first before popping them into the pan with the rest of the ingredients.
- Butter: We’ll be using 4 Tablespoons in this recipe (about half a stick). The butter will infuse with the basil and spinach, before being folded in with the cooked ravioli.
- Fresh basil leaves and spinach: Basil adds a nice flavor profile to the dish. And even though the ravioli already has spinach inside it, you can never have too much!
- Grated Parmesan: The essential topping that binds everything together.
How to make spinach & ricotta ravioli
Boil a large pot of water and cook the ravioli according to the package instructions, or until al dente. While it’s boiling, heat a large pan over medium-high heat with 2 Tbsp of butter and add fresh basil leaves when the butter is melted.
When the basil is cooked down, add spinach to the pan and cook until wilted. Then add the remaining 2 Tbsp of butter and let it simmer with the basil and spinach for a few minutes. Then add the cooked ravioli and toss it with all the ingredients.

Serve with grated Parmesan cheese on top and you’re ready to dig in!

How to serve the ravioli
We love this dish just as much by itself, but you can also serve the ravioli with a few other components! You could serve it with:
- a cucumber and tomato salad
- some roasted vegetables with sausage
- a crusty baguette to mop up the butter sauce with
- baked lemon chicken thighs
No matter what you choose to serve the ravioli with, you’ll have a delicious meal that you might be tempted to make again and again! Don’t say we didn’t warn ya.
