Summer is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with these delectable meatball kebabs? Kebabs are always a huge hit in our household, not only because they’re simply delicious but because they’re super effortless to make. Just roll up some beef meatballs, chop up some veggies, thread them onto a skewer, and voila! Pop them in the oven for about 30-ish minutes and you’ll be rewarded with a flavorful meal that is bound to be a hit at the dinner table.
We like to serve these skewers with either rice or warmed pita or naan bread, topped with a heaping dollop of yogurt and a pinch of paprika to zhuzh up your taste buds. They make a great appetizer or even a main meal served with a light salad to offset the heaviness of the meat. Either way, we guarantee that you and your family will love these kebabs.
Ingredients for meatball kebabs

- 80% lean ground beef: The preferred ratio of fat and lean meat that packs the most flavor. You can also substitute for ready-made meatballs if you’re in a pinch.
- Breadcrumbs
- The veggies — red onion and bell peppers: The accompanying stars to our meatballs
- Wooden skewers (not pictured): We prefer using wooden ones as they’re generally safer for grilling or cooking and provide a more controlled cooking experience. But you can also use metal ones, which are durable and reusable.
- Salt, pepper, olive oil
- Rice or pita/naan bread to serve (optional): Depends on what you’re in the mood for! The meatball kebabs are also just as delicious flying solo.
How to make meatball kebabs
We promised these meatball kebabs are effortless to make and we’ll show you how!
- Prepare the meatballs. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Once mixed together, roll them into 10 evenly-sized meatballs (about 1.5 – 2 inches).

- Chop up the vegetables. Cut the onions and bell peppers into bite-sized chunks.
- Arrange the skewers! Thread the skewers with the meatballs and veggies, alternating between each. Each skewer should have 2 meatballs and even amount of veggies.

- Cook in frying pan first, then bake the rest in the oven. Heat up a frying pan with olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear each skewer for about 2 minutes on each side. Then pop in the oven to bake at 400°F for 30 minutes, stopping after 15 minutes to rotate the skewers.
- Serve and enjoy! Serve with a dollop of yogurt and with either a side of rice or warmed pita bread. Add some paprika if you’re craving a nice kick and some freshly chopped parsley if desired.

Description
These easy, delicious meatball kebabs with grilled veggies make the perfect dish to ring in a busy summer season. They’re an instant family favorite and boast twice the flavor for half the effort! Serve with a dollop of creamy yogurt and cooked rice or warm pita bread.
Ingredients
- 1 pound 80% lean ground beef
- 1 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into chunks
- 1 large red onion, cut into chunks
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 4 Tablespoons whole fat yogurt
- Smoked paprika (optional)
- Cooked rice or toasted pita bread to serve (optional)
- Freshly chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and place 5 wooden skewers in a bowl of cold water to soak.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, and salt and pepper with your hands, taking care not to over-mix. Then form the mixture into 10 even-sized meatballs (between 1.5-2 inches).
- Evenly thread the meatballs and chopped vegetables onto each skewer, alternating between the meatballs, onions, and peppers. Each skewer should have 2 meatballs sandwiched between the vegetables. Repeat until skewers are full.
- Drizzle olive oil into a large frying pan on medium-high heat and gently nestle each skewer in the pan. Sear for about 2 minutes on each side until the meatballs start to brown. If all of the skewers don’t fit in the pan, take turns searing each.
- Transfer the kebabs from the pan onto the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, before rotating and cooking an additional 15 minutes. Cook until the internal temperature of the meatballs is 165°F.
- Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve the skewers over rice or warmed pita bread with a dollop of yogurt, a dash of paprika (optional), and freshly chopped parsley (optional).
