Description

This Egyptian Fenugreek Tea, known as helba, is a simple, budget-friendly drink made with just a few ingredients. It’s warm, slightly nutty, and naturally soothing, making it perfect for cozy evenings or when you’re looking for a gentle, nourishing beverage with traditional roots.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon whole fenugreek seeds, washed
  • 2 cups water (or 1:1 cup ratio of water and milk, if preferred)
  • Honey or preferred sweetener, optional

Instructions

  1. Rinse the dried fenugreek seeds in a strainer under cold water to remove any lingering dust or impurities.
  2. Add the fenugreek seeds to a small pot with water over medium-high heat. Once the water comes to a boil, boil the seeds for an additional minute before removing from the heat.
  3. Using a strainer, carefully strain the hot tea over a cup so that only the liquid passes through. Discard the remaining fenugreek seeds. Add honey or sweetener to the cup if desired, stirring well to incorporate, and serve warm.
