Baked sweet potato fries have been one of our favorite snacks for years. They’re the perfect combination of salty-sweet and are so addicting that we guarantee the plate will be cleared in minutes by your hungry family. Plus they’re so easy to make because they’re baked and therefore require fewer cooking steps, which is a huge plus in our book!
We’ve picked up a few tricks along the way to make the perfect batch of sweet potato fries. So let us be your guide and get to baking!
Recipe ingredients
These baked sweet potato fries come together quickly with just a few simple ingredients! Here is what you’ll need to make them.
- Sweet potatoes: You’ll need about 2 medium-large sweet potatoes, which we’ll peel and cut into fry-length pieces. Try to avoid picking up super curvy potatoes at the store, which will make peeling a bit more difficult.
- Seasonings: Salt, black pepper, and paprika. That’s all you need for a burst of flavor!
- Olive oil

How to make the perfect sweet potato fries
Achieving perfectly baked sweet potato fries doesn’t involve much effort at all! Just follow these steps and tips for best results.
- Cut sweet potatoes into matchstick-like pieces. Peel the potatoes, then work lengthwise and cut a 1/4-in thick slab from one of the sides. Turn the potato onto the flat side to make it easier to cut from then on. Continue cutting the potatoes into slabs, then cut them into fry-shaped pieces (about 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick). Try to cut them evenly so that that they all cook evenly in the oven.
- Toss with seasonings and olive oil in a bowl. Use your hands to coat the potatoes in the mix and then lay out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

- Bake: Oven bake the fries at 400°F for 10-15 minutes. Then flip the fries and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, so that they bake evenly and turn a perfect golden brown.
- Serve and enjoy!: For best results, serve the fries immediately while they’re still hot and fresh! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Serving suggestions
Although these fries are super flavorful on their own, they’re just as delicious paired with dipping sauces like ketchup, ranch dressing, and BBQ sauce. We like to make our own sauce by mixing together mayo and ketchup (about 1/4 cup mayo and 1 Tablespoon ketchup). Enjoy however you like!
